Tom Soto, Founder of Latimer Partners, LLC, is a seasoned investor in the impact sector. Born and raised in East LA County and Pomona, California, to two esteemed Latino Civil Rights leaders, Tom's father, Assemblyman Phil Soto, was the first Latino elected to the state legislature in 1962. Tom's late mother, Nell Soto, served as his father's campaign manager and was a passionate advocate for farm worker rights, the environment, and labor.
Tom, along with his husband of 18 years, Todd Soto, manages Latimer Partners, LLC, their family investment office. Tom has led four PE funds and has extensive experience at the intersection of energy, technology, renewable energy, and Fourth Industrial Revolution-driven platforms. He has been instrumental in initiatives promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion while advocating for climate change initiatives and clean economy regulations.
Tom has held various leadership roles, including Chairman of the New America Alliance and Vice Chair of the LA Clean Tech Incubator. He is also involved as a Trustee of the California Science Center and NRDC, and as an appointee to the California Lithium Valley Commission. With a distinguished career, Tom served as a two-time appointee of President Clinton and played pivotal roles in the White House Council on Environmental Quality for President-Elect Obama and the Executive Council for Clean Energy for Biden
