Hugo leads the definition and execution of a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for Airbus’ hydrogen-powered aircraft program in the U.S. With a mission to accelerate the aviation industry’s decarbonization targets, he oversees external engagements across the hydrogen and aviation value chains, while fostering strategic alliances and partnerships with government, industry, and academia nationwide. In his previous role at Airbus, Hugo spearheaded research and technology partnerships in North America across the company’s aircraft, helicopters, and space divisions, focusing on sustainable aviation, AI, and connectivity. Before joining Airbus, he led special projects and strategic deals in the aerospace sector for the telecommunications company Orange in San Francisco, orchestrating the company’s first demonstration of direct-to-device satellite connectivity. A recovering venture capitalist, Hugo was trained academically in France and in the U.S. He is a former visiting researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and holds graduate degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and the International Space University. Hugo serves as a Board Member of the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association and of the Airbus Institute for Engineering Research at the University of Southern California. Hugo is also an elected member of the Explorers Club of New York City.
