Johnny Baca is a dedicated union leader with nearly 20 years of experience in promoting work and advocating for union members. As the Marketing Manager at the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Johnny has successfully led marketing initiatives that enhance brand awareness and create job opportunities. His strategic vision and leadership have been instrumental in fostering strong industry relationships and driving the growth of union jobs.
Johnny’s union career began with OPEIU Local 277, where he has been an active member since 2004. Over the years, he has expanded his role to include significant involvement in California government affairs, championing the Boilermakers' contributions to sustainable energy projects. In addition to his primary role, Johnny works with the Western States Boilermakers Industry Fund (WSBIF) in supporting the industry's growth across the Western United States.
Johnny graduated with honors from the University of Southern California, earning an MBA. He also holds a BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and has completed the prestigious Harvard Trade Union Program. His expertise in account management, business development, and team leadership has been key to his successful career.
Committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, Johnny actively recruits minorities, indigenous persons, women, and formerly incarcerated individuals. He believes in the transformative power of union jobs to provide stability and opportunity for all.
As a speaker at the California Hydrogen Convention in Los Angeles, Johnny will represent the Boilermakers as co-sponsors. He will share valuable insights on the vital role of unions in advancing hydrogen technology and ensuring a sustainable, unionized future for California’s energy sector.
